Spoken Word Poem -- Dreams
Hidden
By Max Richter
I want my dreams to be blind to the world
I want my dreams locked up in that dark unused space in the back of my mind
A place that is darker then the starless night sky.
My dreams are hidden
My dreams are gone
No one will ever know what my dreams are
My dreams are locked up in a jail cell
They are not screaming to get out like others
They are not going to come true
My dreams are never going to be known
My dreams are locked up in that jail cell and the key is thrown away
Far, far away
My dreams have never seemed clear to me like the view through a dirty window on a cloudy day
Dreams are supposed to be kept to yourself
I don’t listen to any of that “If you wish upon a star” crap
because I’m afraid that someone might hear about my dreams...
and might tell someone else.
Then my dreams will spread like wildfire
My dreams are private
All to myself
No one should know something that is so personal and close to me
I will hold onto them like old childhood memories
Me, myself and I
I am not one to advertise my dreams
While others do it so freely
I don't want to cause problems
I don’t want to be embarrassed
In front of my family, my friends, my teachers
I don’t want to be judged
My dreams will not be budged
My dreams are blind to the world
So I keep them to myself to keep them alive
I keep them safe in the back of my mind
There is one thing that I will share
The future is inevitable
My future is in my hands
