EconoME - A Project Highlighting the Economic and Social Issues Students Face Everyday
Part 1: Personal Portfolio Report
For the first part of the project, we had to create a personal financial planning portfolio. In this portfolio, we had to research information for our future career choice, college cost spreadsheet, monthly budget, investment portfolio and sample tax forms. All of this work was done individually. I was surprised to see that being an air traffic controller is such an exclusive job. Throughout my job search, I had trouble finding a job that would hire air traffic controllers.

Part 2: Personal Finance, Economy or Social Issue Research
Our assignment was to create a presentation that would help educate other high school students about personal finances or about any economic or social issue. With this information, it was our choice in the way we wanted to present this information.
Throughout our research we were learning about exponential growth. I learned that exponential growth can be a dangerous thing when it comes to paying for college. Student loan rates are always on the rise and this is something that does not help student pay them off in a timely manner. I was shocked/most surprised when I found out that colleges are not doing much to support students avoid the amount of debt they graduate with. Some colleges continue to increase tuition each year. As a student, I really liked doing quite a bit of research in this because it is a topic I will have to deal with in about a year.
My group chose to research tips for paying for college. We created an infographic demonstrating the different ways that students can pay for college. This infographic is below.
